Got the bullets

« on: July 28, 2009, 11:18:10 AM »

Welcome to Bite The Bullet

Our forumrules are simple and meant to ensure all our members enjoy their stay here,
so please be so kind to respect each other and act like a sensible human being.

By signing in as a member here, you are expected to know and understand the rules.
If anything is unclear, please contact a member of staff to explain it to you.
Do not be silly and hope for the best; ask questions before you risk breaking the rules.

Please be aware that our rules are a work in progress and therefore may be subject to change...[/b]

  • Age Restriction

You must be 15 years old or older. There might be some topics that will offend certain people and we feel if you are under the age of 15 you might not be able to handle the topic matter. If you are old enough to drink in "Yurop", then you are most likely mature enough to handle the topics. If not, feel free to leave. No-one will shoot you down if you do.

  • General conduct

If you are not a people-person, that is fine. If you hate someone because of race, religion or some other reason and feel the need to share those insights; do not bother posting them here, you will be banned.

We do not want any slander, inflammation, harassment or derogatory comments in any area of the forum, including the PM system. Be aware that we have implemented a report-system for PM's, so in case anyone abuses the PM system we will be able to track you down and take administrative action.

Healthy debate and discussions are fine and encouraged, just do not be a dumbass. Keep it clean, respectful and fun for everyone.
Discussions that get out of hand will be closed at staff's discretion and the culprit will be warned or worse.

  • Posting

Feel free to post away if you are a legitimate member here. However: be cautious. No continuous bumping, no showering us with thanks in a short timespan, no nonsensical posts and NO Necromancy. Abandoned threads are abandoned for a reason, and are considered closed. Do not attempt to breathe life back into them, unless you have a new insight on the subject-matter. No-one likes a smelly mummy for no apparent reason.

If you need to change or add something in your post, use the modify-button. That is after all what is it there for. Do not double-post. Any double posting we find will be deleted, and may earn you a warning.

Please refrain from using an excessive amount of bolded, brightly coloured and large-sized font-type in your posts. This may seem like a good way to draw attention to your posts, however it will most likely be negative attention. If you want to emphasize something in your post you may of course use different colours, sizes etc., but in moderation and never for your entire post, as this can highly reduce the legibility of posts against the dark background.

Before posting, make sure you post in the appropriate section of the forum. Every board has a sticky, with all the information about what that specific board is all about. The stickies are easily identifiable, as they are always on top and have a different backgroundcolour than normal topics.

We are not here to just move stuff around for you because you are too lazy to find out where to post it, so be sensible and read what goes where first!

  • Spamming and Advertising

We do not care about post-count, and neither should you. You do not receive a special award nor are you considered a loyal subject when you reach a certain post-count. If you feel naked without a high post-count, contact staff and we will fiddle with it and up it for you. No need to spam our forum to show off to other members what a loyal subject you are.

Showering someone with thanks is fine, as long as it is in moderation. We have implemented a thank-you button in the posts, so you can simply thank someone for a post by using that. (It is not hard to miss: it is an emoticon in the post-field that says "thank-you"). This will avoid topics being clogged up with thank-you's.

Advertising your Sims-website is fine, do so in your signature. Spamming our forum with links to your Sims website is frowned upon and will earn you a warning or worse.
Non-sims related advertisements are considered blatant spamming and will earn you a warning or worse.

Sims-websites that would like to update us, can do so in the updates-section of our forum. You may create 1 thread per website, and use that thread for all your updates, including any contests you may be hosting on your site.

  • Pictures

Feel free to post any kind of picture you want, provided it is not brutal, slanderous, pornographic or in general bad taste.

We have set up several boards for both Sim-related images as well as general images, so make sure you post in the appropriate section.

Post away, but keep them under 800 x 800 px. Not everyone has a fast connection, or an enormous screen size, so do us all a favour and keep them within limits.

NO HOTLINKING! There are plenty of free image-hosts out there, so do not feed off someone else's bandwidth. No-one likes a mooch.
It goes without saying that hotlinking from our site is also not allowed.

Please do not post your images by using the attachment-system. If you do, they will be removed.

Pictures that do not meet the above standards will be removed, and you will have earned yourself a warning or worse.

  • Avatars and Signatures

Keep them tasteful. Artistic nudity is fine, porn is not.
You may post a link to your sims-website in your signature.
You may not post links to non-sims related websites or websites of an adult nature in your signature. Doing so will earn you a warning or worse.

    Maximum size for images:

avatars: keep them under 150x 150 px
signatures: keep them under 300 X 200 px

Avatars and signatures that do not meet our standards, will be removed without prior notice.

  • Uploads

You can upload anything you want related to Sims 2 or Sims 3, provided it is not of an adult nature. There are other websites, such as Insiminator Adult, that will cater those kind of uploads.

NO UPLOADS of TSR ITEMS ALLOWED! We do not want any part of sharing TSR files, free or subscription. Any uploads of TSR items will result in a warning and removal of the download link, any further attempts to share TSR items will result in a ban!
YES, this is even if you have permission from a TSR artist, we do not want anything coming back here... do not even bother uploading TSR items, THEY WILL BE REMOVED!

Please only upload in our "Shoot to Kill"-section, anything uploaded to another section of the forum will be moved there, but you will be warned! All uploads should have their own thread in "Shoot to Kill", this is just basic housekeeping here.

Further info can be found in the sticky in the uploads-section. Make sure to read that prior to uploading to our site.

  • Accounts

    NO duplicate accounts. Period.

If for whatever reason you share an IP address with someone else, inform us about it. Otherwise we will delete any duplicate accounts we find -except for the oldest account- without prior notice.

Do not attempt to outwit us by deleting an account with warnings, infractions or bans on it and creating a new account to start fresh. We are not that stupid and can see what you are trying to do.

  • Warnings, Infractions and Banning

A warning is just that: a warning, meant to make you aware that you missed something in our rules. They are not to single you out or because we do not like you, so do not get your knickers in a twist about it. We are all human beings and make mistakes, so if you have received a warning you can ask us about the reason in a civilized manner, via PM. We will not bite your head off and will explain the rules to you one more time.

Whining and bitching in the general forum-area about why you have received a warning is frowned upon and will make us reconsider if you really are old enough to be a member here.

Temporary banning will be used if you have received 3 warnings over a short period of time and still continue to disregard our rules. The temporary ban lasts for 3 weeks, after which time you are more than welcome to come back and try again if you feel you are able to behave as you should on our forum.

Permanent banning will be used if you have severely broken the rules, and these will not be lifted.

You can be banned at anytime at staff's discretion. PERIOD.

  • Moderating

Do not mini-moderate, we have staff to take care of things. If you feel someone is out of line, or there is something else wrong, then be sensible and contact a member of staff and let them deal with it. You can report a post via the 'report post to moderator'-button.

In case you have accidentally posted something in the wrong section, contact a member of staff so they can move it for you to the appropriate section. Do not make a new post in the right section, attempt to delete the post in the wrong section and expect us to clean up your mess.

Any attempt to moderate yourself will earn you a warning or worse.

  • Staff

A shortlist of who's-who, to make it clear:

    ~ Outlaw: Site Administrators

    ~ Sheriff: Global Moderators

    ~ Sheriff's Deputy: Moderators

~ Sharp Shooter: our Design Team

    ~Pistol Whipper: our Contest Team

~ State Trooper: Site Support (contact at own risk)

That is basically it, so enjoy your stay here!
